About ArchiAtlas
ArchiAtlas is the field guide of world architecture where anybody can contribute.
We want to take Architecture closer to the people by mapping interesting buildings and including visit instructions to tour them. We want to be a forum for discussion and a source of documentation, a meeting point for anybody interested in discovering and exploring great architecture around them.
Archiatlas is based on user contributions and community: you are invited to add your favorite building, map the most interesting locations in your hometown or join one of our expert user groups. You can also browse, comment and discuss any of the buildings in our catalogue.
History
In Summer 2005 a group of friends spent a weekend in a rural area in Wisconsin. Only some months later we discovered that we had been only half an hour away from the Johnson Wax Headquarters, one of the masterpieces of contemporary American architecture and a building we would have loved to visit. Then we started thinking about how useful it would be to have a single place where one could search for interesting architecture, plan how to visit it and share impressions and experiences with people with similar interests.
