The Museum of Westward Expansion at the bottom of the arch is free. Tours are not free though and during busy times, you will need to buy tickets and wait for your tour. The tram ride to the top is worth the cost of the trip. The view is amazing.

History, Background and Context

The arch was built to commemorate the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which explored the western United States. The arch symbolizes a gateway to the West.

Description and Notes

This is a catenary curve that is 630 feet tall, which is also the span of its legs.
