Building Info

Description and Notes

The building's plan was very influenced by a drawing in 1922 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (the architects were Mies disciples). It is composed of three equal prongs extending from a central core. The exteriors of the lobules are gently curved, giving the exterior of the building a rich form. The original plan called for three buildings like this along the lake shore, in what could have been a very futuristic view.

In addition, each of the 720 units in the clover-leaf-shaped tower has an open floor plan and no load-bearing interior walls. This enables residents to enjoy panoramic views from every room, and to remove walls to combine rooms and even units.
