Johnson Wax Headquarters - by Frank Lloyd Wright

The 'great workroom' with its columns is one of Wright's most astonishing spaces. The room is opened by a series of tubular skylights that fill in between the tops of the column petals, in a lilipad-like shape.

The building was built using more that 200 different sizes and shapes of bricks. Wright used very new materials for the time (Pyrex glass and silicone seal) to build most of the windows and skylights, using almost experimental techniques. The result is a smooth, futuristic lighting inside the building, and plenty of water leaks.

Wright also designed the original furniture for the building.
